Security Systems for Colorado Municipal Facilities

ESI Technologies holds CJIS certification and has designed security systems for city governments, utilities, courthouses, water treatment facilities, and law enforcement-adjacent environments across Colorado. We understand the procurement processes, compliance requirements, and operational constraints that come with municipal work.

CJIS Certification: What It Means and Why It Matters

The Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy governs access to criminal justice information systems maintained by the FBI. Any vendor whose employees may access or be in proximity to these systems, including security technicians working in police stations, courthouses, jails, and dispatch centers, must meet CJIS standards.

ESI holds CJIS certification. All employees with access to CJIS-relevant environments have passed the required background checks and received CJIS security awareness training. This is not a universal standard. Most security integrators are not CJIS certified. For Colorado municipalities and law enforcement agencies, ESI is one of the few local integrators qualified to work in these environments.

Municipal Security Applications

  • City administrative buildings: Access control for city hall, administrative offices, and public-facing service centers. Secure separate entry zones for public, staff, and restricted areas.
  • Utilities and water treatment: Perimeter security, gate access control, and camera coverage for water treatment facilities, pump stations, electrical substations, and other critical infrastructure, with monitoring protocols for after-hours intrusion.
  • Courts and detention facilities: High-security access control and camera systems for courthouses and jails, where CJIS compliance and strict zone control are mandatory requirements.
  • Police and public safety facilities: CJIS-compliant security systems for police stations, evidence storage, dispatch centers, and training facilities. ESI’s certification covers all employee touchpoints in these environments.
  • Parks and recreation facilities: Camera coverage and after-hours intrusion monitoring for parks facilities, recreation centers, and community buildings, with monitoring designed around the unique after-hours vulnerability of these locations.
  • Multi-site city portfolios: For cities managing security across dozens of facilities, ESI can design a unified platform that centralizes access control credential management and camera monitoring, reducing per-site management burden.

Working with Municipal Procurement

ESI has experience working within Colorado municipal procurement frameworks, including competitive bid processes, cooperative purchasing agreements, and state contract vehicles. We produce the documentation, insurance certificates, bonding, and compliance materials that municipal contracts require. If you’re a purchasing officer or project manager for a city or county, we’re set up to work the way your process requires.

After installation, a Managed Site provides the documented maintenance history and system audit support that government facilities increasingly require for compliance and insurance purposes.

Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems for Government Facilities

ESI installs and inspects fire alarm systems for municipal and government facilities across Colorado. NFPA 72-compliant installation and annual inspection by NICET Level I and II certified technicians, with written inspection reports for AHJ filing and insurance documentation. For municipalities managing fire alarm, security, and AV across multiple facilities, ESI handles all three under one contract: one call, one vendor, one service relationship.
