Maintenance
Keep Your Security System Running at Full Capacity
Security systems degrade without regular maintenance. Cameras drift out of alignment. Access control readers develop intermittent failures. Batteries in panic buttons and sensors die unnoticed. An ESI maintenance agreement catches these issues on schedule, before they become a liability.
Security Systems Don’t Maintain Themselves
Most businesses assume their security system is working until something obvious fails. In reality, degradation is gradual: a camera loses IR clarity, a door contact develops an intermittent fault, a card reader starts acting up during temperature swings. By the time the failure is obvious, coverage has been compromised for weeks or months.
ESI maintenance agreements put a structured inspection schedule on your system, not a reactive call when something breaks, but a proactive visit to find and correct issues before they matter.
What’s Included in an ESI Maintenance Agreement
- Scheduled inspection visits: ESI technicians visit your facility on a defined schedule to inspect every component of your security system: cameras, access control panels, readers, sensors, recorders, and network equipment.
- Camera inspection and cleaning: Camera lenses are cleaned, housings are inspected, and field of view is verified against your original design. PTZ cameras are tested for range of motion.
- Access control testing: Door readers, locks, and panels are tested for proper operation. Request-to-exit devices and door position sensors are verified.
- Intrusion system testing: All sensors, contacts, and motion detectors are tested. Battery backup is inspected and tested. Alarm communication to the central station is verified.
- Recording system verification: NVR storage is verified for proper retention, recording schedules are confirmed, and backup power is tested.
- Priority service response: When issues arise between scheduled visits, maintenance agreement clients receive priority dispatch ahead of non-contract service requests.
- Written maintenance report: After every visit, you receive a written summary documenting what was inspected, what was found, and any recommended corrective actions, building a documented maintenance history for your facility.
Maintenance Agreements vs. Managed Sites
ESI offers two tiers of ongoing service coverage for existing system owners:
| Feature | Maintenance Agreement | Managed Site |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled maintenance visits | ✓ | ✓ |
| Priority service response | ✓ | ✓ |
| Written maintenance reports | ✓ | ✓ |
| Firmware and software updates | — | ✓ |
| Access credential audit support | — | ✓ |
| Remote diagnostic support | — | ✓ |
| System health monitoring | — | ✓ |
For clients who want broader coverage, including proactive firmware management, remote diagnostics, and access credential auditing, a Managed Site provides all of this in addition to scheduled maintenance. Talk to your ESI account manager about which tier is right for your facility.
Manufacturer Warranty Compliance
Many security equipment manufacturers require documented preventive maintenance as a condition of their extended warranty programs. Without a maintenance record, warranty claims can be denied, leaving you responsible for the full cost of equipment that failed prematurely.
An ESI maintenance agreement produces the documentation manufacturers require: visit records, component test results, and corrective action notes, protecting your warranty coverage and giving you a defensible paper trail if a claim is ever disputed.
Want More Than Maintenance?
A Managed Site adds firmware updates, remote diagnostics, and access credential auditing on top of your maintenance coverage, for clients who want comprehensive, proactive system management.
Don’t Wait for Something to Break
Contact your ESI account manager to set up a maintenance agreement for your facility. Current and former ESI clients can often be enrolled without a full site assessment if our technicians have recent documentation of your system.
